The SHAKTI Processor, funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, and developed at the Pratap Subrahmanyam Centre for Digital Intelligence and Secure Hardware Architecture (PS-CDISHA) under the RISE Group, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Madras, is a milestone in India's journey towards self-reliance in semiconductor technology. Built on the RISC-V open standard architecture, it aligns with the vision of Digital India and is a key pillar of the India Semiconductor Mission.

With multiple successful tapeouts across technology nodes, from 180nm to advanced processes, SHAKTI demonstrates India’s capability to design and fabricate processors entirely in-country. These achievements position SHAKTI as a foundation for next-generation computing, embedded systems, and AI applications.

The SHAKTI startup ecosystem further fosters innovation, empowering Indian entrepreneurs and technologists to develop semiconductor solutions while boosting India’s global presence in the field.
